The best places in Singapore to get macarons

While the pandemic may have kickstarted a baking craze, when it comes to macarons, we say buying is always better than baking. Written by Michelle Yee

For those who have tried their hands at making these irresistible treats, they would know that macarons are notoriously finicky – beat your egg whites for too short or too long and you are left with macarons that won’t rise, and if you fold in your powdered sugar and almond flour too many times, the top of your shell is very likely to crack. Furthermore, there are other variables like a rainy or humid day – completely out of your control, which can reduce your chances of success. With so many factors at play, we recommend leaving this tedious task to the experts, while you focus on which flavours to get.

Here is our round-up of where to get some of the best macarons in Singapore.

The best macarons in Singapore

  • Tea rooms
  • Marina Bay

Homegrown, international tea brand TWG Tea has been handcrafting tea-infused macarons for over a decade and they continue to do so consistently well. Each macaron comprises a luxuriously smooth tea-infused ganache sandwiched between two sweet pieces of delicate meringue expertly made with almond powder and egg whites. Try their signature flavours including Napoleon Tea & Caramel, 1837 Black Tea & Blackcurrant and Earl Grey & Chocolate.

Available in boxes of 6, 12 and 24, at $15, $30, $60 respectively, at all TWG Tea Salons & Boutiques in Singapore and on TWGTea.com for self-collection within Singapore only.

Supa Dupa Macarons

Expect to find some of the most creative and original macaron flavours at Supa Dupa Macarons, a local home-based business that was incepted due to huge demand for their dainty sweet treats. Notable highlights to try include tutu kueh, inspired by a popular local snack; Pecan Chocolate Porcini; Chinese almonds strawberry; and popcorn. Made using 100 percent natural ingredients, the macarons are some of the best we’ve tried by a local baker, featuring a crisp outer shell that cracks lightly when bitten into, revealing an interior that is delightfully moist and slightly chewy.
