The best restaurants for group lunches and dinners in Cascais

  • Snack bars

It’s hard to find a better spot for groups in Cascais. With large tables to comfortably seat everyone and a menu designed for sharing, this bar-restaurant by the Bay offers original cuisine rooted in traditional Portuguese gastronomy. Bring your friends and family to Hífen, and don’t miss the chance to try their famous cocktails.

Lota da Esquina, chef Vítor Sobral’s restaurant in the heart of Cascais, has just launched group menus tailored for the final months of the year. Starting at €50 per person, these special menus include a choice of starter, such as gratinated mushrooms with island cheese and truffle farofa or picanha croquettes with mustard and honey sauce; followed by a main course featuring highlights like baked cod with spinach, pork with chestnuts and prawns, roasted kid with greens, and cod with truffle and corn bread.

The menus can be customised according to each group’s preferences. For those looking to enhance the meal, there are options to add extras like a buffet of traditional Portuguese sweets, including rabanadas and bolo-rei, or a tasting of fortified wines.

With long communal tables and a welcoming terrace for sunny days, Mais do Mesmo is also perfect for groups. The menu primarily focuses on sharing plates, featuring delights such as brie cheese bites (€8.50), stuffed mushrooms (€8), pica-pau of loin (€15), and the house prawns (€17). But the standout dish at this restaurant is the delicious prego with Serra cheese (€10), the bestseller around which the entire concept was crafted by chef Pedro Carreira.

They also offer a Mais do Mesmo burger (€12), a pulled pork brioche (€12), a shrimp hot dog (€14.50), and heartier options like the grilled naco à portuguesa (€22), bacalhau à Carreira (€19), or miso salmon with oriental couscous (€18). We guarantee it’s not just Mais do Mesmo (more of the same).

One of the most popular restaurants in Cascais Marina, despite its roots in Fontainhas, Alcabideche, Mercearia Vencedora brings together Italian, Brazilian, and Portuguese specialities at the table. The menu features a wide selection of pastas and salads, as well as fish dishes, burgers, steaks, and the famous picanha menu (€22.50), served with baked potatoes, black beans, rice, and salad.

For group lunches and dinners, Mercearia Vencedora offers three set menus (ranging from €37.50 to €45 per person), which include unlimited picanha and a variety of starters, drinks, and desserts to choose from.

  • Chinese

It’s one of the most authentic Chinese restaurants in the Lisbon area, serving the true flavours of the Kuong Tong region. With an extensive menu, lunch features the legendary dim sums. In the evening, the options remain plentiful, so to make it easier for you: the Peking duck is one of the specialities, alongside shark fin soup. With three private dining rooms for groups (seating 8, 14, and 42), Estoril Mandarim is a great choice for an authentic Chinese meal.

  • Seafood

Rain or shine, no matter the season, the view from Furnas do Guincho is always stunning and worth it on its own. The culinary delights come straight from the sea, whether it’s fresh or cooked seafood—like in the delicious paella—or fish. There are must-try options, such as lobster açorda or octopus cataplana, which you can enjoy in the indoor dining area or on the terrace when the weather permits. If you're bringing more than 15 friends or family for dinner, be sure to make a group reservation to access the special menus designed for large tables, which are available upon request and can include the famous fish fillets with seafood rice or Russian salad.

The new Páteo do Guincho, which opened a few months ago in Cascais Marina, remains a great recommendation for groups —especially for lunch or dinner on the covered terrace. For parties of 16 or more, a specific reservation is required. From that point, they will create a personalised menu based on the group’s preferences. Its older sibling in Torre is another classic choice for group dinners and even features a semi-private room with a long table that always has room for one more.

At Casa da Guia, one of the most beautiful spots in Cascais for lunch with friends or family, Prazeres da Carne is a great option. This restaurant, specialising in meat (as the name suggests) and the first to open in this iconic space, offers group menus that range from €35 to €40 per person. These include a starter, a selection of sharing plates, a main course of your choice, a dessert of your choice, as well as unlimited water, soft drinks, coffee, beer, and wine—at least while the food is being served.
