Time Out Market is a unique concept: the only food hall in the world curated by journalists. Everything you see and taste there has been selected by the editors and reviewers of Time Out, the mythical London magazine that has now been in Barcelona for 16 years, seeking out the best of the city. The first Time Out Market opened in Lisbon in 2014, and there are now nine around the world. Barcelona’s is the first in Spain.

At Time Out Market Barcelona you’ll discover a casual, fun atmosphere. It’s a big space (over 5,000 square metres) enjoyed by all kinds of people: from the most demanding foodies to families making the most of a place where everyone can eat what they fancy at a shared table. Take heed: you can’t leave Barcelona without sampling the city’s Time Out Market. It’s a must.

This is all kinds of food you'll taste in the market!

BAR NURI

Is tapas just tapas? In the case of those served at Bar Nuri, they’re the culmination of three generations of chefs who come from Barcelona’s seaside neighbourhood of Poblenou. Its range at the Time Out Market is a festival of iconic tapas, the ones everybody loves, like the Russian salad with prawn tartare. The most difficult thing at Bar Nuri is choosing what to order!

BUBÓ

Bubó is a patisserie for today and tomorrow. It’s synonymous around the world with innovation, and enjoying its desserts is like spending time in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory! Among other delights, you can taste chocolate cakes that have entranced half of Asia, and an ice cream that has been named a world champion.

CAN ROS

From a fishermen’s eatery to a popular restaurant, albeit one that’s modern and truly excellent: Can Ros is the paradigm of a Barcelona rice restaurant, featuring surf and turf dishes, the best fresh fish, and always, always, intricate cooking. What’s more, something extraordinary happens there: unlike many places that insist on a minimum of two people ordering their paellas, at Can Ros all the rice options are available for one!

CASA AMÀLIA

Casa Amàlia is the only full-service restaurant in the Time Out Market. Reserve a table and enjoy a classic dining experience there. Its menu is a tribute to market-fresh Catalan cuisine, all made using seasonal produce. With a dash of imagination, they convert a rice dish into a monument to gastronomic lust.

CASA GUINART

Òscar Manresa is probably the chef who is most familiar with the iconic Boqueria Market and its produce. As a result, what you’ll find at Casa Guinart is Catalan cooking created by a maestro using the best ingredients. His menu for the Time Out Market includes all the classics of local cuisine in their best possible version: meatballs, cannelloni and beef with wild mushrooms!

COLMADO MÚRRIA

'Colmados' are one of Barcelona’s identifying features. These historic general stores stock a range of local and delicatessen products, with an aesthetic that recalls old neighbourhood shops, and where personalised attention is a key part of the experience. Few of these speciality vendors know their product like Joan Múrria: this doyen of the city’s colmados has a supernatural sense of smell for selecting the best cured meats, cheeses, tinned food, smoked products and wine (all to either eat in or take away).

DARVAZA

Discover excellent meat-based dishes that all include a touch of embers, whether they’re grilled, smoked or flambéed – from the croquettes to the steak! And best of all, you can order everything by weight. It’s quite the experience.

FRAN LÓPEZ

Chef Fran López, with two Michelin stars already in the bag, focuses on local produce from the area around the Ebro river in the south of Catalonia. He uses it to create cuisine that is innovative but will also have you dipping your bread in the juices left on the plate. López offers small twists in the tale, enabling you to sample fresh takes on classic dishes such as the egg cooked at low temperature and black meatballs with cuttlefish.

LA BALMESINA

La Balmesina is one of the best pizzerias in Europe (it’s spent three years in a row in the top 10), and as well as producing fantastic pizzas made with local ingredients, they do something even more difficult: innovate! Try their ultralight dough made using organic flours and fermented for 72 hours, and it will change your perspective on pizza forever.

LENA MARIA GRANÉ AND RICKY SMITH

It’s very complicated to invent dishes that aren’t simply a new version of something which already exists. These two chefs (she is from Barcelona, he’s a Londoner) achieve it through creativity without pyrotechnics: the only fireworks in their gourmet cuisine, inspired by the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, happen in the mouths of their lucky customers. We’d bet on these two achieving Michelin stars in the future.
