The trio brings that same passion and focus to Time Out Market Cape Town, with Ramenhead’s seaside outpost offering a compact list of Asian plates and slurpable ramen bowls.
Time Out Market Cape Town has brought a delicious new era of foodie adventures to South Africa’s ‘Mother City’.
It is the first Time Out Market to open in Africa, and a true foodie celebration of this remarkable city, as well as the people and independent businesses that make it great.
Cape Town’s history as a trading port has long informed its culinary landscape, with the city’s kitchens – from fine dining destinations to corner takeaways – whisking together influences from Africa, Europe and Asia.
That combination of culinary cultures, not to mention the Mother City’s reputation as Africa’s gastronomic capital, is on delicious display at the Time Out Market Cape Town. Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Time Out Market?
Here’s the idea: we pick out the best chefs, bartenders and cultural goings-on from across the city. Then we bring them all together under one roof to create an IRL tasting menu of the very best stuff in town.
We started with Time Out Market Lisbon in 2014, and since then we’ve opened in New York, Boston, Montreal, Chicago and Dubai (with Porto, Prague, Abu Dhabi, Osaka and some other very cool cities in the pipeline). And now Time Out Market has landed right here in Cape Town, and the location is pretty unbeatable…
Where is Time Out Market Cape Town?
You'll find Time Out Market Cape Town in the popular V&A Waterfront precinct. Set around a historic working harbour, the V&A is one of the most popular destinations in the city and is filled with shops, restaurants and entertainment.
The Market is conveniently located alongside The Watershed design hub, and just a few steps from the Hop-on-Hop-off bus stop and the Two Oceans Aquarium.

Is there parking available?
The V&A Waterfront has more than 7,500 parking bays on-site, so you won’t struggle to find a space. The closest parking area is Portswood, which is just across Dock Road from the Market.
What will you find at the market?
Time Out Market Cape Town offers 13 kitchens, all run by leading local chefs and restaurateurs, alongside four unique bars pouring fine wines from the Cape, local craft beers, and a list of creative cocktails.
There is a stage for live performances and, of course, plenty of space for guests to eat, drink and be merry. There are 750 seats in total, including quayside tables with jaw-dropping Table Mountain views.

Time Out Market Cape Town is open daily:
- Sunday to Wednesday: 11am-10pm
- Thursday to Saturday: 11am-11pm
Oh wait, you’re an early-bird? You’re in luck. Our all-day brunch vendor Nøsh Café is open from 8am-8pm daily.

Absolutely, but we recommend that specific food allergies and sensitivities should be discussed with the chefs and staff at the Market while ordering.

Yup. Our all-day brunch eatery Nøsh Café is available every day from 8am-8pm.
I need coffee. Can you help?
Absolutely. Nøsh Café’s baristas serve throughout the day, using beans from three of the city's top roasters; Origin, Tribe and Truth. They’re open from 8am-8pm daily.
Do you accept reservations?

Is there Wi-Fi available?
Of course! Simply sign in to the free Wi-Fi at the market on arrival.
Are pets allowed indoors?
Unless they are service animals, pets are not allowed inside the Market. But, don’t worry: your fur-babies are welcome to join you in the outside seating areas of the Market.
Are there ATMs on the premises?
There is no ATM in the Market, but luckily you won’t need one! Time Out Market Cape Town is a cashless space, and vendors accept most major credit and debit cards. If you need cash, you’ll find ATMs in the V&A Waterfront shopping malls.
Can I pay for food and drink with cash?
Nope, sorry. Time Out Market Cape Town is a cashless market. Simply tap/swipe/insert your credit or debit card to pay.
How do I order food and drinks at Time Out Market Cape Town?
Check out the menu above each venue’s counter, step up and place your order. Feel free to chat to the chefs and kitchen crew if you have any questions about what’s on offer. You can then simply tap/swipe/insert your credit or debit card to pay. You’ll be given a buzzer that alerts you when your order is ready, so you can grab a seat while you wait.
Do you offer delivery or takeaways?
We don’t offer delivery at the moment, but watch this space! Some vendors will package your order in takeaway containers for you to enjoy at home. Feel free to ask.
Are the bars open at the same time as the kitchens?
Yup… good food needs a great drink! But please note that both the bars and kitchens close 30 minutes before the Market, so get your last orders in early.
Is there disability access?
Definitely. Time Out Market Cape Town is located on the ground floor, and there is a lift to provide access to the Mezzanine level.
Is Time Out Market Cape Town family friendly?
We certainly are. Each of our vendors has a child-friendly option on their menu. You can also keep an eye on our upcoming Events page for special events to keep little ones entertained.
Do you have live entertainment?
