Two Miamians turned off the dating apps and hit up Time Out Market for dinner and drinks—on us!
First Impression:
Margarita
“I liked that we both arrived casually dressed, especially based on the setting. It made him more approachable. I jumped right in and initiated the conversation.”
Carlos
“She seemed very spontaneous and had a lot to say about a lot of things. I wouldn’t say she talks too much, but she had an explanation for every single thing.”
Chemistry:
Margarita
“He didn’t have the physical qualities I would normally be attracted to, but this opportunity forced me to dig deeper. I found we had a lot of commonalities.”
Carlos
“She was very entertained with my job as a high school teacher and thought the stories I told her about the teenagers in my classroom were hilarious.”
Awkward Moment:
Margarita
“After I ordered a sandwich to share that had kimchee and pickled cucumbers, he told me he didn’t like pickles. I thought, This guy is for sure going to hate it.”
Carlos
“I didn’t get some of the stuff she was talking about. Like, I didn’t know who Baz Luhrmann was, so she tried to fill me in.”
The Food:
Margarita
“Having been to the market so many times, I have the places I always go to. I took this as an opportunity to try new ones, like Miami Smokers.”
Carlos
“I get the allure of going to a food market on a date—there’s a lot of variety. We shared a charcuterie plate, a lobster roll and a spicy chicken sandwich.”
The Verdict:
Margarita
“I’m not sure if there’s a second date. I’m in an exploratory phase of my life where I’m looking to meet people and get to know different perspectives.”
Carlos
“I think it went well. We talked a lot and got along pretty well. I asked for her number and plan to reach out to her soon.”
