Are cocktails and a great view the winning formula for love? We sent two locals on the ultimate romantic blind date to find out.
The Drinks: Juvia
Dexter:
“I thought Juvia was gorgeous—and the view! The weather was actually nice enough for us to sit outside. I kept ordering the Purple Juvia (Belvedere, lemon, blackberries, ginger shrub, mint), it was really good.”
Sara:
“I didn’t order something from the menu. Instead I asked for a tequila old- fashioned. It was smooth—and now one of
my favorites.”
The Drinks: Juvia
Dexter:
“I ordered the king crab risotto, but I liked Dexter’s black truffle risotto more, actually. We also had the duck foie gras but then Dexter told me how foie gras is made and I didn’t want to eat it. I was like, Why is this duck so buttery?”
Sara:
“I knew the view would be nice, but the food was surprisingly good. My risotto was awesome. We also had foie gras, but Sara freaked out when I told her what was in it.”
The Fun: Ricky’s South Beach
Dexter:
“After drinks, we played basketball and air hockey, and I was pretty competitive when it came to air hockey. He was going easy on me at first, and I told him not to. I said, ‘I got this.’ I won.”
Sara:
“I ordered the Dime Bag Darryl, which looked like it had a tiny bag of marijuana taped to it. I almost opened it until the bartender stopped me and told me it was moss.”
The Verdict:
Dexter: ♥♥♥♥
“She was outgoing like me and easy to talk to; I don’t think there was a moment in the date when we weren’t talking. It’s hard to find someone you can have an educated conversation with in Miami.”
Sara: ♥♥♥
“I don’t know if I’d go out with him again, though he was easy to talk to and had pretty blue eyes. At the end of the night he handed me his phone, and I gave him my number. I didn’t mind.”
