Do you want to be in a pub? Do you want food? Do you want DJs? Do you want karaoke? Do you want to do these things under one roof? Do you get concerned if a tube stop is more than a three-minute walk away? The Star of Bethnal Green ticks all the boxes. Free entry, no policy on shoes, part ski lodge, part tropical bar that serves pizza for a fiver, and solely concentrates on good times; Ridley Road Market Bar is a haven. Just make sure you get there before 9pm as it gets busy. For groups over 15, you should consider ringing ahead to reserve an area.

The drinks are very good and very strong here and you enter the bar through a shop selling excellent things. What’s not to like? The main room is incredibly elegant – like you’d have your drawing room if you could afford a drawing room. Then downstairs it’s red and brash and a bit rock n roll. It’s just like everyone on a hen do… upstairs for drinks, party down below.

Nothing says “I’M GETTING MARRIED” like putting on a pair of shoes one thousand other people have worn before you. Bloomsbury Bowling is more than just a row of oiled up lanes though – it also offers karaoke, pizza, private hire areas and most weekends there is a themed party going on from 50s twisting to 80s hair rock.
