Updated February 2026: The year was off to a snowy start, but that didn’t stop us from venturing out in the record-breaking temps for a good meal, especially during Restaurant Week, which wraps up on February 8.
This month, we’ve updated our ranking of the best restaurants in Chicago based on some of those expeditions. Maxwells Trading was bumped up to number eight on the list. A recent visit proved that this longstanding fave is still dishing out best-in-class cuisine (don’t miss the ravioli doppio doused in squash parmesan fondue) to the tunes of whatever is spinning on the record player—Estelle’s 2008 album Shine, in our case.
Time Out has also implemented a sitewide change to its review policies. Our food and drink venues included in guides now have star ratings, with five stars corresponding to “amazing,” four to “great” and three to “good,” and we’ve also standardized how most listings are structured.
