Set amidst verdant gardens, the Cipriani has superb facilities as well as a private harbour for your yacht and a better-than-average chance of rubbing shoulders with an A-list film star, especially during the film festival, when many make this their base.
Rooms are as luxurious and well appointed as you’d expect in this category. If this seems too humdrum, take an apartment in the neighbouring 15th-century Palazzo Vendramin, with butler service and private garden. Facilities include tennis courts, a pool, a sauna, a spa, a gym and a fine-dining restaurant designed by Adam Tihany. There’s a motorboat to San Marco, but many guests never even leave the premises.
