Nestled on the second floor of a trendy corner in Harajuku, Pauline Studio is a select shop that carries stylish jewellery and a well-curated range of natural wines. Founded by Kyoka Kato and a wine connoisseur, this Tokyo gem is filled with one-of-a-kind treasures. We recently stopped by, and here are three reasons why you should visit Pauline Studio, too.

Discover a world of handpicked treasures to elevate your lifestyle

These days, online shopping offers endless options, but the sheer volume can be overwhelming, making it hard to know where to start. This is where select shops like Pauline Studio come in. Here you’ll find a curated collection of jewellery – designed both in-house and by artisans from around the world – as well as a selection of natural wines from local and international labels. From Japan to Spain and the United States, all the products here are one-of-a-kind, handpicked by the owners and displayed artfully in the store’s beautiful space.

At Pauline Studio, it’s clear that the owners have impeccable taste. From elegant earrings and statement necklaces to quirky hair clips and exceptional natural wines, every item feels like a treasure. Ever wish you had a friend with good taste to help you discover new things? Pauline Studio is just that – a thoughtfully curated boutique where you can explore new treasures with ease.

Jewellery and wine, the combo you didn’t know you needed, until now

Jewellery and wine may not seem like an obvious pairing, but upon visiting Pauline Studio, it makes perfect sense. Both are indulgences that elevate life’s finer moments, and they make for wonderful gifts. As Kyoka puts it, ‘They’re things you don’t necessarily need, but life is more enjoyable when you have them around.’

Many customers even combine the two to create thoughtful, memorable gifts. Picture sipping a fruity natural wine over a special dinner while you’re wearing a stunning pair of handmade gold earrings picked out just for the occasion. Yes, please.

Some of Kyoka’s current favourites include the Oyster Studs, designed in-house at Pauline Studio, which would pair beautifully with celebratory bubbles from Fukuoka's Shindo Wines. For winter, she recommends a full-body red from Yamanashi's Domaine Hide, a premium choice that would make a perfect gift alongside Pauline Studio’s signature 18k Gold Chain.

Kyoka also loves the handmade, ethical jewellery from US label Rhyden, especially its Yin Yang Ring Set. To complement this, Pauline Studio carries a delightful selection of wines from Californian label, Cruse Wine Co.

A one-of-a-kind, independent shop in the heart of Harajuku

Often dubbed the ‘fashion capital of Japan’, Harajuku has long been a mecca for fashion lovers from around the world. Since the ‘80s, the area’s eclectic subcultures have flourished alongside its quirky independent stores and boutiques. In recent years, however, the rapid commercialisation of the district has seen major chain stores take over the neighbourhood.

But the true heart of Harajuku lies in its small businesses, where local shop owners continue to shape the area’s bold personality. Pauline Studio is a proudly independent store that embodies the original spirit of Harajuku. The store has a warm, personalised feel that’s hard to find in the larger chain stores.

Oh, did we also mention the adorable family chihuahua, who can be spotted hanging out in the shop twice a week? Pauline Studio is truly a reflection of its owners – and the things they love to share with others.
