In 1919, in Venice, the Barbieri brothers launched a vibrant new orange drink, made from bitter orange, rhubarb and various herbs and roots, aimed at businessmen and to be drunk at the end of the day. In Italy, the ‘end-of-day drink’, known as an aperitivo, became an institution and an Aperol Spritz is the most popular option. The Aperol Spritz trend hit Portugal two years ago and has been growing so much that this new kiosk is more than necessary. Aperol, a good Prosecco, sparkling water and a slice of good orange: that’s what makes a great Aperol Spritz. And that’s all this kiosk sells.
