Orchard Road – a haven for retail therapy and arguably one of Singapore’s most iconic districts. The street is lined with glitzy shopfronts and crowds from all around the world. Amidst all the shopping that you’ll be getting done, a meal is a must to recharge and refuel. All that walking is sure to work up a monstrous appetite. Head over to Monster Planet at The Centrepoint where giant saucers of delicious Japanese curry rice (from $13.90) await. The Japanese demi-glace is made with 14 different vegetables and spices and cooked over two days to bring out the best flavours. Aside from the various deliciously crispy katsu toppings available, you can also choose to add their homemade chilli sauce that comes in five different levels of heat for that fiery kick.

The popular Poulet chain is known for its signature French roast chicken (from $17.90). Over at Poulet + Brasserie, the menu gets a little more creative, going beyond just contemporary French cuisine. All-day breakfast and locally-inspired dishes like kaya French toast ($14), seafood eggs Benedict ($19) with laksa hollandaise sauce, and Salad de Rojak ($12) are also available exclusively here. Located in ION Orchard, this is a central spot to drop in for a meal before hopping back to do more shopping. The Dim Sum Place is one of the few Halal-certified dim sum joints in Singapore, and probably one of the rare spots where you can enjoy a Halal xiao long bao. It’s more known for its North Bridge Road outlet which is a popular supper spot on the weekends, but the Centrepoint branch allows for a more convenient meal if you happen to be in town. Dim sum classics are done right here, with staples such as chicken feet ($6.90), molten salted egg custard buns ($6.90), har gao ($6.90), congee (from $9.90), and xiao long bao ($6.90). But a popular order at the Orchard Road outlet is the braised duck wings ($6.90) in a special sauce. Step into the homey enclave of Indonesian hospitality at Tambuah Mas, one of the oldest Indonesian restaurants in Singapore.
