This tiny place cooks up hearty Roman casseroles and salads which are generously stuffed into panini and served on the ramshackle outside tables. The selection changes daily but there are always at least 8-10 choices from traditional trippa alla romana (tripe in tomato sauce) and coda alla vaccinara (oxtail stew) to aubergine parmigiana and owner Simona’s grandmother’s recipe of sausage stew with grapes. The exuberant staff and extremely affordable prices make Da Simo a hidden gem in one of the most touristy parts of town.
