Museo dell’Alto Medioevo

Focusing on the decorative arts between the fall of the Roman Empire and the late Middle Ages, this museum has intricate gold- and silver-decorated swords and buckles. The absolute highlight of the collection is a spectacular reconstructed room decorated in opus sectile (stone inlay) from a very Late Imperial building at Ostia Antica, well worth the journey all by itself.
