This former convent, designed by Borromini, has been transformed into an upmarket hotel by an Italian chain – though there’s still a slight air of nunnery around the echoing corridors. The position – in a quiet corner beneath the Gianicolo hill but a short stroll from Trastevere’s lively alleyways – is great, there’s a pretty garden, and the view from the roof terrace is quite spectacular. A few of the 78 rooms are very pokey so specify your needs when booking.
