The 50 best cities in the world in 2025

The 50 best cities in the world in 2025

People who don’t live in cities will tell you they’re busy, lonely and expensive places. But there’s a reason so many people choose to live in them: with world-class art and culture, unbeatable food and nightlife, buzzing neighbourhoods and a dizzying amount of stuff to do and see, there’s simply no better place to be.  Every year, we take the pulse of city living by quizzing thousands of locals across the planet about life in their hometowns. This year, more than 18,500 city-dwellers shared their insights on everything from food, nightlife and culture to affordability, happiness and the overall city vibe. When urban living can sometimes feel isolating and costly, this year we wanted to get a sense of what, exactly, makes a city feel like home. Sure, the nightlife is great, but is the city safe and walkable? Is good quality food and art available at a reasonable price? Is it easy to make friends, find love, and access nature?  Livability was a key factor in our ranking this year. But a great city to live in is, naturally, a great city to visit. So, along with the thousands of responses from locals around the world, we asked Time Out’s global network of city experts to vote on the places they think are particularly exciting right now. After crunching all that data, here we are: Time Out’s definitive ranking of the world’s best cities in 2025. The 16 very best nightlife spots in Prague

The 16 very best nightlife spots in Prague

Prague’s got a nightlife spot for every kind of night. And yes, we really mean every kind of night. Whether you’re up for a stylish bar, a hearty pub or even a club in an old abattoir (yes, really), the Czech capital’s nightlife options are amongst the most impressive of any European city.  The best clubbing and drinking spots are almost always outside Prague’s city centre, but don’t miss out on the Old Town, either. While plenty of city centre joints have abandoned character in favour of profits, there’s still real fun to be found in the likes of Holešovice, Smichov, Kárlin. So without further ado, here’s our lowdown of Prague’s most essential nightlife spots.   RECOMMENDED: 🏢 Where to stay in Prague🍴 The best restaurants in Prague📍 The best things to do in Prague🍻 The best bars in Prague This guide was recently updated by Yaren Fadiloglulari, a writer based in Prague. At Time Out, all of our travel guides are written by local writers who know their cities inside out. Dva Kohouti

Dva Kohouti

What’s the vibe? The first thing you’ll notice when you step inside Dva Kohouti are its tall, stainless steel beer tanks. They’re there to remind you that your beer won’t be an ordinary one, as the bar brings together a brewery and a taproom. Located in the Karlin neighbourhood away from the tourist crowds, the bar is a popular hangout for beer lovers. No matter the time of the day, you’ll see people sitting on its long wooden communal benches, chatting, or grabbing some food at its nearby burger spot. On warm summer days, sit outside in the courtyard – you’ll often find events and DJ sets out here.  What should I drink? Dva kohouti proudly brews its own beer. Try one of their lagers, IPAs or APAs. Prices depend on the beer, but often range from 64 CZK to 84 CZK. How late is it open? Open from 3pm to 1am on weekdays, 12pm to 1am on Saturdays, and 12pm to 10pm on Sundays.  What’s worth visiting nearby? Famous Czech restaurant chain Lokál has a branch right next to Dva Kohouti. For some delicious coffee and dessert, try Můj šálek kávy.  📍 Discover more of the best restaurants in Prague
Hemingway Bar

Hemingway Bar

What’s the vibe? Shock horror: everything in Hemingway Bar is inspired by writer and bar lover Ernest Hemingway. As you enter the dim-lit bar, you’ll be greeted by Hemingway photos and posters on the walls, shelves lined with a wide range of spirits, and a ‘20s speakeasy design. Even the menu reflects Hemingway’s life, featuring unusual drinks named ‘Wooden Pen’, ‘Autumn in Chicago’ and ‘Short Story’. Sit at the bar to watch the bartender skillfully prepare your drink, or find a table to enjoy the cosy atmosphere with your friends. Reservations are recommended, especially if you’re visiting on the weekend. What should I drink? You simply must try one of their signature cocktails, if only to do justice to their theme. If you’re unsure what to get, ask the very knowledgeable bartenders for recommendations. Top tip: not for the faint hearted, for sure, but absinth cocktails are very popular here.  Prices are higher than most places in Prague, but you’re paying for seriously good cocktails and a central location, so we think it’s reasonable; expect to pay between 285 CZK and 385 CZK for a cocktail. How late is it open? Open till 1am Monday to Thursday (and Sunday) and 2am on the weekends, this spot is always a vibe.  What’s worth visiting nearby? The bar is next to many of Prague’s most popular attractions; you can cross the famous Charles Bridge, watch a play at the National Theatre, or grab a historic coffee at Café Louvre. 📍 Discover more of the best things to do in Prague
