From our first taste of the Ferreira family’s Portuguese chicken coming hot off its smoking grills when it opened in 2016 to every delicious bite today, this fine-tuned churrascaria has consistently delivered quality time and again. From their local sourcing of grain-fed birds to the moment they’re marinated for 24 hours in a piri piri sauce before being fired off, this eatery has firmly set a bar for casual dining downtown. Paul Toussaint strikes again, and this time, while the grill is hot: The menu here is a continental journey through the barbecue techniques of two hemispheres, combining North, Central, and South America. If you've ever been to Time Out Market Montréal, you've probably noticed the huge screen in the Time Out Bar. Hungry Montrealers can drop in for drinks with or without a meal, but now they've got a whole new reason to come by: The Market will be screen four huge matches for the UEFA Champions League. Combining a a ton of matches featuring teams from across Europe, what started as a competition to contest international club matches will decide who will be qualifying for the UEFA Super Cup, who in turn qualifies for FIFA Club World Cup to be held. That said, whoever you want to cheer on at the Market might include someone you'll be cheering on at FIFA in Qatar. It looks like Montrealers' vote for their city's best neighbourhood last year, Verdun, has been beaten out by an all-new contender: Villeray, which has secured itself the #18 slot in this year's round-up of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world. The result comes from the annual Time Out Index survey which polled a total of 27,000 city-dwellers from around the world about—among many things—what their favourite neighbourhood in their city was. Ce résultat est le fruit de l'enquête annuelle Time Out Index, dans le cadre de laquelle 27 000 citadins du monde entier ont été interrogés, entre autres, sur leur quartier préféré dans leur ville. We like to think that Montreal is among the best cities in the world, and now we have the numbers to back that up. The fourth annual Time Out Index just named the best cities in the world today, and Montreal ranks in at #6 after a top five of San Francisco, Amsterdam, Manchester, Copenhagen and New York.  What's the Time Out Index? This year's ranking comes from more than 27,000 people from around the world telling Time Out about living and social life in their cities right now, and that data is used to determine where each city stands.  For 2021, cities weren't just rated for eating and drinking or culture and nightlife, but also for their community spirit and environmental initiatives. Those new avenues gave Time Out unique insights into how cities are thinking about their futures, as well as the present. So how does Montreal rank so highly? "When the pandemic hit last year, Montrealers rallied. This city is famous for its community spirit, and up against the biggest crisis in a generation, we showed enough of it to make any city proud," wrote Time Out Montreal's editor JP Karwacki. 61% of respondents to the Time Out Index said Montreal has community spirit, and that was high in comparison to other cities.  "As our famous music and politics make abundantly clear, conformity has never been in fashion here, and it’s those differences that bring us together: 73 percent of locals would describe Montreal as ‘diverse’, and even more (82%) say it’s easy to ‘express who you are’.
