15 brilliant things to do in Lanzarote

15 brilliant things to do in Lanzarote

There’s much more to Lanzarote than Brits abroad and English breakfasts. Sure, you’ll find plenty of both, but if you can manage to swerve overdeveloped areas such as Playa del Carmen and Costa Teguise you’ll find a wild wonderland waiting to be explored and adored. This beautiful Canary Island is actually filled with palm-filled towns, gorgeous beaches and delicious fresh fish. Lanzarote is often a love letter to the heart and soul of influential artist César Manrique, with many stunning homes and attractions related to the great man. The best things to do in Lanzarote might surprise you. The 13 best things to do in Fuerteventura, tried and tested by us

If you’re headed to Fuerteventura, it’s likely you’re ready to soak up some serious sun, sea and sand. And there’s no better place for it – Fuerteventura is great for beaches, full of huge, wide open sands, hidden coves and glorious sunshine (3000 hours of sun a year, to be exact). It can sometimes get overcast by its big sisters Lanzarote and Tenerife, but for a beachy holiday, there’s no beating Fuerteventura. But if you’re planning a trip, make sure to check out all that this beautiful island has to offer (hint: it’s not just beaches). Here you’ll find everything from free activities to the downright unusual – botanical gardens and food markets; aloe vera farms and natural jacuzzis. You’ve got to see it to believe it in Fuerteventura, but we’ve made it easy for you to compile your bucket list. Here’s the best things to do in Fuerteventura right now.  RECOMMENDED:📍 The best Canary Islands to visit ☀️ The best things to do in Lanzarote🗻 The best things to do in Tenerife🇪🇸 The best places to visit in Spain Ross Clarke is a Canaries specialist travel writer, based between the Canary Islands and the UK. At Time Out, all of our travel guides are written by local writers who know their cities inside out. The 16 best things to do in Tenerife

The 16 best things to do in Tenerife

Sun, sea and sand is what first drew me to Tenerife a decade ago, but it’s the countless cool activities, chilled out Latin America-meets-Spain vibes and stand-out food and wine scene that has kept me coming back since – so much so that I’ve even lived there for a time. The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is made for holidays, whether that’s classic fly and flop – I’m rather partial to its more than 150 beaches – something more adventurous such as hiking epic ravines and through prehistoric forests, or a hint of culture in its Unesco-protected spaces, quirky museums and innovative restaurants. Here are my suggestions of how to spend your time in Tenerife. The 7 best Canary Islands to visit this year, ranked

The 7 best Canary Islands to visit this year, ranked

I’ve been visiting and writing about the Canary Islands for more than 10 years and I never, ever get bored of them. That’s because while the islands have much in common – balmy temperatures, magnificent beaches, stunning sights and stellar food and drink, to name a few – they’ve each got their own distinct character.  Which is the hottest Canary Island in February? While none of the islands ever get cold (except maybe the very peak of El Teide in Tenerife), the easterly islands are the hottest in general – Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are really quite close to the Sahara after all. Gran Canaria has slightly higher temperatures in the winter months, including February when carnival season kicks off. Which is the cheapest Canary Island to visit? Price-wise, the largest islands are often the cheapest thanks to better holiday deals, with Tenerife and Gran Canaria often taking the top spot for bargains. That said, you can find incredible value across the islands particularly off-season, so it’s worth shopping around.
