Country music may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about NYC's amazing summer concerts, but that doesn’t stop some of genre's top artists from showing the city what they’re made of. With many bonafide chart-toppers, coming to live music venues around the city and seaside arenas at our favorite New York beaches, we’ll be singing the praises of cold beers and boot-tapping all season long.

The new school season is fast-approaching, and while it’s fun to get those bookbags ready with cool back-to-school supplies, preparing young minds for the new year is just as important. Time Out New York Kids recently caught up with Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, who was at Publicolor with the Post-it Brand to chat with students about how kids can go for the gold by setting goals for the school year.
As a three-time Olympic gold medalist and the first African-American all-around Olympic gold medalist, Gabby knows a thing or two about pushing herself and staying focused. She graduated from high school in 2015, all the while training for her second Olympics! Read on for Gabby’s top tips on thriving in school and making leaps and bounds long after the last bell rings.
What advice would you give to students to help them stick to goals during the school year?
Go 100 percent for it. You can’t procrastinate and you can’t backpedal. You have to just give it a shot.
What would you tell kids dealing with the stress of school?
I dealt with the stress of school, and I’d say, just relax. Take a breather, calm down, go do something fun. Look at your vision board, which I think is so key, because when you do that, you’ve created something. You look at it and believe in yourself that you can do it.

What are your thoughts on the importance of “work hard, play hard?”
Working hard is as important as playing hard—you have to keep it fun and you h
New Yorker’s love a good Instagram-able pup. Remember the hugging dog? She’s still out there hugging tourist’s and locals alike, but there’s a new golden retriever stealing hearts across the city with an Instagram account that's like an adorable version of Humans of New York.
The four-month-old dog, Glee, and her owners are working to meet as many people as possible, and find out what makes them “gleeful." Glee and her brand, Goldens Glee, are committed to bringing positivity and joy to New Yorkers. The dog's owner hopes to show the world the commonalities and diversities of what makes people gleeful, and teach the importance of bringing “glee” into our lives.
"In our busy lives, Glee provides people with a moment to meditate on the things that bring them joy, be it silly or serious," said Glee's owner Jared Kasner. "We hope that by bringing New Yorkers glee, we can help them to see that positivity can unite them."
Check out some of our favorite gleeful moments—we know nothing gives us more joy than a good puppy hug.

Lets face it: New York City goes above and beyond with just about everything. From milkshakes to rooftop bars to countless brunching options, the city is very rarely subtle—especially when it comes to St. Patricks Day. Before and after the infamous parade along 5th Avenue, tourists and locals clad in green garb take on the streets through Times Square, just about every Irish pub this city has to offer and everywhere in between.

It’s the last day before a long weekend, and you’ve had a ruff week. Someone spilled their coffee on you on the Q train? Or perhaps you dropped your $10 salad while walking back to the office? We feel you, and so do these puppies: Here’s what some of the most adorable dogs from the Westminster Dog Show think about the three-day weekend.
“It's Friday afternoon and my boss just told me he needs me to stay late and finish a project before the long weekend.”
“I’m on coffee No. 3, but I don’t think it's kicked in yet.”
“It's 5:56pm and all I can do is watch the clock.”
“FREEEEEE. FREE AT LAST. Until Tuesday, at least.”
“Walking into happy hour like…”
“It's now Saturday at noon, and I haven’t gotten out of bed yet. I have no regrets.”
“The hardest thing I’ve done all weekend is come up with a caption for this Instagram.”
“But we really should have taken these pictures before 3am.”
“Guys, why did we get home from Sunday brunch at 5am on Monday?”
“The long weekend is over, I'm headed back to work anddddd the trains have 'signal problems.'"
