The best spots for après ski in the U.S.

The best spots for après ski in the U.S.

Skiers and snowboarders know your time on the slopes is only half the fun. When the lifts close or when your legs just can’t handle another run, it’s time for the après ski to begin! Après ski is a French term literally translating to “after ski.” The term first became popular in the Alps in the 1950s as a catch-all phrase for post-ski activities. In the U.S. today, the term après ski is most commonly used to describe post-ski drinks and parties. Ski resorts across the U.S. have been trying to distinguish themselves in the increasingly popular winter sport. The 2022-2023 season was a record-breaking year for many resorts; some go for family-friendly, promoting their ski schools and kid-friendly activities. Many distinguish themselves by focusing on luxury experiences, five-star dining, world-class spas and top-notch accommodations—which is especially attractive for those who don't ski. But what many skiers look for when planning their next trip is the après-ski scene! They want slope-side drinks, live music and DJs, afternoon parties, and places to go out in the evening. Here are our top 10 après ski spots in the U.S.

With two new hotel acquisitions in Teton Village, Blue Flag Capital is set to make their mark on Jackson Hole. The Alpenhof and Snake River Lodge are two long standing favorites in Jackson Hole according to Brad Guidi, CDO and Co-Founder of Blue Flag Capital, these two properties were a perfect addition to their portfolio, “inspiration at first sight is crucial for any property we consider. We seek a certain indescribable spark in each location. Both the Alpenhof and Snake River Lodge have this." Alpenhof has deep roots in Teton Village and Jackson Hole, first opening for Christmas 1965. When asked what updates or changes guests can expect to this historical property, Blue Flag Capital CEO Jason Brown says, “We want to know from the guests and locals themselves what made the Snake River Lodge and Alpenhof great so that when we make any needed changes down the road, it's coming from a place of respecting the past and building upon it, vs. just scrapping what's been working for years and starting new.” While the team will be bringing fresh ideas and the upscale, soulful hospitality Blue Flag is known for, Brown assures, “At the end of the day, we believe honoring historical properties

Boston Ballet Opens 2023-2024 season with a world premiere

Boston Ballet Opens 2023-2024 season with a world premiere

The Boston Ballet is back, the company opened the 2023-2024 season on Thursday October 5 with the Fall Experience. The program consists of four ballets including the world premiere of Form and Gesture choregraphed by Boston Ballet’s very own My’Kal Stromile.  Form and Gesture was segmented into four thought provoking “exhibits”.  In ‘Exhibit A’ there was a feeling of mystery and whimsy. The backlighting gave the audience the allusion that the dancers could be shadows dancing across the stage.  The transition to ‘Exhibit B’ grips the audience’s attention with the sharp opposition in lighting. Dancers are illuminated with bright front lighting and spot lights. There are moments where a single dancer stands in the spotlight against a black abyss, an eerily beautiful reminder that in the darkest moments music and beauty prevail. Then ‘Exhibit C’ makes use of filtered screens and reflective costumes, challenging the audience to think about how the same experience can be viewed very differently depending on the lens one looks through. It important to be conscious of the lens’ we view life through and sometimes in order to understand people we must consider the their lens’.  The final segment, ‘Exhibit D’ was energetic, using expressive, bold movement to tie the whole performance together. When asked about Form and Gesture, Stromile said, “My goal as a choreographer is to use movement to tell stories, express emotions that are beyond words, and to create moments of beauty and transc
