Why they’re single:
Andrew: He’s focused on his career, and the acting industry requries a lot of focus.
Mallory: She’s been in New York for only about a year, and dating really hasn’t been a priority.
Ideal date:
Andrew: Going for dinner, then a Yankees game
Mallory: Grabbing coffee and going for a walk
THE DATE
First impression
Andrew: “The first reaction I had was that she wasn’t totally my type: I’m a smaller guy, and she was a little taller, but that’s not what makes or breaks a relationship for me.”
Mallory: “He was very friendly and very smiley but not really my type. I’m usually interested in gentlemen who are taller. He seemed polite but was a little formal.”
Chemistry
Andrew: “I definitely felt a nice energy. We talked about the acting industry. Hopefully I was able to shed some light on it for her—it’s my career, so I love talking about it.”
Mallory: “He gave me a lot of unsolicited career advice. I’m all about getting advice—I love getting tips and tricks, and I’m very new to this city—but maybe not in a date setting.”
Awkward Moment
Andrew: “Our table was a little wobbly, so we had three different people come out to fix the wobble and then come back to check on it again. The waiters were very congenial.”
Mallory: “He said he used to live with two females and then was like, ‘Is that the correct term? Females?’ It was very odd, and it was right up top, before the fries even came out.”
Afterward
Andrew: “After dinner, we went to see this show [#DateMe]. I asked if she wanted to exchange numbers, and she said she would but wasn’t interested in going on a second date.”
Mallory: “I told him I didn’t think I wanted to go on a second date, but maybe we could meet up as friends. And then he gave me his business card. So that’s how that ended.”
Verdict
Andrew: ♥♥ “I think we enjoyed each other’s company, but it just wasn’t there romantically. But, as a fellow actor in the industry, I’d see myself staying in touch.”
Mallory: ♥ “I would give it a solid B-. I really enjoyed the restaurant and the show. It was pleasant company but not romantic company—and a lot of tips about the industry.”
