Are you sick of your damp flat and irritating job? Ready to properly, properly get away from it all? Well, the Irish island of Inis Meáin is looking for someone who wants to do just that.
If the heatwave kind of stressed you out – and we don’t blame you – a rural life by the sea might be the perfect solution. The island is looking for a family to live there, rent-free, for a year. From what we can tell, the scheme is designed to help immerse school-aged children in the Irish language (so you do need to have kids). It’s an absolutely stunning location: think solitary beaches, breathtaking views and unspoiled countryside.
Inis Meáin is largely untouched by touris and so the language remains the primary means of communication. The offer includes a ‘lovely, modern house’ in the centre of the island, plus access to a new remote working hub – which we reckon means digital nomads can carry on as normal. The ad also references ‘plenty of job opportunities’, but that’s something you’re probably going to want to check out before applying for the move.
Amenities on the island include a nursery, a primary school and an award-winning secondary school. There are also adult language courses available if you’re looking to improve your language skills. Our advice? Bí tapaidh (be quick) and apply now, as it’s going to be a super popular opportunity.
