After years of preparation, the Paris 2024 Olympics are just around the corner, and excitement to watch the world’s greatest athletes compete in the French capital is well and truly mounting.

But it’s not all about the actual Games: the Opening Ceremony is a world-class event in itself, and a super swanky viewing op has just been announced – at the Musée d’Orsay, no less.

The terrace of the central Paris art gallery will be transformed into an exclusive Opening Ceremony event, where guests will have an unmatched view of the ceremony as the show and 10,500 competing athletes make their way along the Seine.

The evening begins with a guide through the museum’s Impressionist art collection from an art historian before concluding on the terrace for the start of the ceremony. Olympic Torch and Cauldron designer Mathieu Lehanneur is hosting, who said ‘Hosting this celebration allows me to share my passion for both art and the Olympics with fans from around the world.’

But not only will you catch a glimpse of the ceremony (from the specially installed seating area), but there’ll be French snacks, a DJ set by founder of Paris-based art collective 99GINGER Kirou, and a tasting workshop by Margot Le Carpentier, Paris’s ‘most influential bartender’ of 2020. Très bien

The opening ceremony takes place on July 26, and the event will run from 6 pm until 1 am. Here are some snaps of the space.
