If you’re a frequent flyer, the costs can stack up pretty fast. Wouldn’t it be great if you could book an unlimited number for a fixed price?
Well now, thanks to Wizz Air, you can (kind of). The budget airline, which operates across almost 200 cities, has just launched an ‘All You Can Fly’ subscription, which does exactly what it says on the tin – there’s no limit on the number of flights you can book within a 12-month period.
However, there are a couple of catches that could make you think twice about signing up, even if this is one hell of a bargain. So, if the sound of unlimited flights made your ears perk up, read on.
What is Wizz Air’s ‘All You Can Fly’ unlimited flights subscription?
You didn’t misread that title – this membership really does offer you unlimited flights (technically). For €599 per year (or €499 if you sign up before Friday August 16), Wizz Air will allow you to book as many flights as you like within the following 12-month period (starting from September).
While airlines offering multi-flight packages is nothing new, unlimited deals are less common. US operator Frontier Airlines and Malaysia-based AirAsia offer similar deals.
How to get the pass?
Intrigued? The membership can be bought from the ‘All You Can Fly’ website, where you need to select the new ‘All You Can Fly membership’. You’ll need to register, agree to the T&Cs and privacy notice – it’s definitely worth brushing up on your right to withdrawal.
Once you’ve paid, you’ll be able to start booking seats (from September 2024) – but read on for more info on the catch.
Membership cost and details
If you book before the end of today, a year-long membership is on offer for €499. After that, it will go up to €599. The first flight you book is complementary, after that each one is subject to a €9.99 booking fee, and don’t expect seat allocation or luggage allowance to be included – you’ll have to pay extra for those.
So what’s the catch?
Organised travellers, you better take a deep breath. If spreadsheets, detailed itineraries and three-month notices are your thing, this membership probably isn’t for you. ‘All You Can Fly’ members are only entitled to book flights up to 72 hours before departure – standby flights, basically.
What’s more, there’s a limited number of memberships available for each airport from which Wizz Air operates. The airline said it is selling 10,000 subscriptions, according to the BBC, and several of the ‘airport of preference’ options were shown as being sold out.
A message on the page said: ‘In the case that you are unable to select your preferred airport, please note that the limit has been reached and Wizz Air is unfortunately unable to offer you a Wizz All You Can Fly membership at this time.’
Wizz Air ‘All You Can Fly’ destinations
Wizz Air has routes to almost 200 cities across 50 countries throughout Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and Asia, and none of these are excluded in the offer – it just depends on availability.
Did you see this is the world’s first airline where women can request not to sit next to men?
Plus: These are all the strikes at European airports you need to watch out for right now.
