Paris 2024 Olympics closing ceremony timings

The ceremony is taking place on Sunday August 11 at 8pm CEST.

Where’s the ceremony being held?

Unlike the history-making opening ceremony, which was the first ever to be held outside a stadium, the closing ceremony will follow the traditional route and take place in the Stade de France.

What actually happens?

Thomas Jolly has once again spearheaded the artistic direction of the closing ceremony, which will be called ‘Records’. There’ll be more than 100 performers, dancers, acrobats and circus artists, and some famous faces too. We can expect to see a closing parade, a final medal ceremony, speeches and the extinguishing of the Olympic flame. You can read more about this in our full closing ceremony guide right here.

Performers

Tom Cruise has been confirmed as a performer, and the Mission Impossible star is set to perform a stunt so the Olympics can be handed over to LA for 2028. Other rumoured performers include Snoop Dogg and global megastar Taylor Swift, but you can read all about those in more detail here

Flagbearers

The flagbearers are the athletes from each country who wave their nation’s flags in the closing parade, and they tend to be a highly-decorated or well known member of the team. For the opening ceremony, Tom Daley and Helen Glover did so for Great Britain, LeBron James and Coco Guaff did so for Team USA and Florent Manaudou and Mélina Robert-Michon did so for Team France. Stay tuned as these are announced for the closing ceremony.

How to watch
