Some choose to travel to destinations known for nightlife, others seek out foodie hotspots and cultural hubs; then there are those of us that simply want to meditate, get massaged and snooze away our stress.

Yep, we’re talking about spa breaks. When you think of classic spa destinations, you might think of Japan’s hot spring towns or massive mega-spas like Therme in Bucharest – but, according to SpaSeekers.com, there are some unlikely spots people are heading to for a relaxing break in 2025.

To shed some (soft, atmospheric) light, the spa booking service has looked into Google search data to determine which destinations have seen the largest increase in interest, and the results are in.

Topping the list of trending spa destinations for this year, it’s Vietnam, which saw a staggering 175 percent increase in Google searches. According to SpaSeekers.com, the country has a huge variety of retreat options, offering everything from thermal springs and meditation to herbal baths and Vietnamese massages.

Morocco claimed spot number two, with searches increasing by 84 percent. Historically, visitors have been keen to try traditional Moroccan hammams, but thalassotherapy (treatments using seawater) has become a little more popular here, too.

In third place, it’s a tie between Albania and Romania, each with an increase in searches of 83 percent. Albania’s your best bet if you’re after some glorious coastal backdrops (and why wouldn’t you be, when the country’s beaches look like this), but if you’re looking for something more secluded and mountainous, head to Romania.
