This is the year to go really big on your summer vaycay. Forget that villa you always went to before the pandemic – this year, we’re dreaming of staying somewhere truly spectacular.
A new ranking from TripAdvisor might just be the place to start. Using its wealth of customer data, the reviews site has come up with a pretty comprehensive list of the best places to stay in the world. So where came top? That would be Tulemar Bungalows & Villas, in Costa Rica. Everyone’s favourite trending destination also has the best hotel, it turns out. Nestled within a 33-acre gated community, the hotel has a private beach, and is apparently famed for its gourmet dining. Guests can choose from four-person bungalows, private houses for groups of nine, or a village of hillside casas. Bit different to your standard hostel, then.
If South America is more your thing, the runner-up on the list is the Hotel Colline de France, in Brazil. Users of the site love its grand, traditional architecture and convenient location. And if all-inclusive is your thing, Ikos Aria, on the Greek island of Kos, came third. Just look at those photos: the place looks like total bliss.
