The pandemic certainly put a dampener on our nights out for quite some time, but over the last couple of years it’s been encouraging to see nightlife all over the planet return in all its groovy, if slightly adapted, glory.
Our brand-new mega survey of city-dwellers from across hundreds of different cities has just crowned Rio de Janeiro as the best nightlife destination in the world – shocker, we know – and you can read all about that here.
But what about the best destination in Europe? Well, in more not-so-surprising news, Berlin was the highest-ranking party spot for the continent, with the people we surveyed rating its nightlife quality at 82 percent, and its affordability at 48 percent.
Berlin’s rave scene is an integral part of the city’s culture, but even the German capital, known all over the world for its grungy mega-clubs and gargantuan venues, has witnessed significant changes to its after-dark environment.
‘The last few years have witnessed the deaths of some beloved nightlife institutions – most recently Neukölln’s Loophole – but Berlin continues to reinvent itself,’ Berlin-based writer Anna Geary-Meyer said. ‘Outdoor raves have made a comeback, while the former Griessmühle team opened RSO, home to quality techno parties.’
