Whether you enjoy an itsy-bitsy boutique hotel tucked away in the countryside, or a grand, glassy room in a city-centre skyscraper, the world is full of some really jaw-dropping hotels – there’s almost too many to consider.

Thankfully, every year Travel + Leisure asks its readers their opinion on everything from their favourite cities to their favourite islands, their favourite airports to their favourite cruises, and over 186,000 people participated in 2024’s survey.

In the hotels category, people were asked their opinion on rooms and facilities, location, service, food and value for money, and had to judge whether they were excellent, above average, average, below average or poor – and the results are in.

So, claiming the coveted spot as the best hotel in the world, according to all those readers, it was The Oberoi Rajvilas in Jaipur, which scored an outstanding 99.79 out of 100. Thanks to its plush rooms, immaculately kept gardens and location next to one of India’s most enticing cities, readers just couldn’t get enough of this place – one of them described it as ‘truly magical – a beautiful property and a very serene oasis.’

In second place it’s La Casa de la Playa in Playa del Carmen, an exclusive, 63-room boutique hotel, nestled between the Mexican jungle and the Caribbean sea and in third place was the Ritz-Carlton in Doha, which features immersive outdoor pools overlooking the Arabian Gulf, and a dazzling spa. But there are plenty more where these came from – check out the top ten.

These are the ten best hotels in the world, according to Travel + Leisure

  1. The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur, India
  2. La Casa de la Playa, México
  3. The Ritz-Carlton, Doha, Qatar
