Air travel between the USA and UK has seen a massive boost in the past couple of years. Not only have loads more routes launched between the two countries, but there are a greater number of budget options, too. It’s arguably never been so easy and affordable to hop on a transatlantic flight as it is right now.
And soon there are going to be even more options for plane travellers between Europe and North America. A brand new carrier called Global Airlines has acquired its first plane, ready to launch new routes from London to New York and Los Angeles. The plan is to launch by spring 2024. In other words, we could see a new player in the transatlantic flight game as soon as next year.
If you’re after budget options, however, you might want to book elsewhere. Global is apparently being pitched as a higher-end airline, with a similar quality of service to Emirati airlines Etihad and Emirates. One can only assume that’ll mean Emirati-level pricing, too.
In any case, Global is now well on the way to becoming to an actual, flying airline. The first plane in its collection is quite the statement, too. It’s an Airbus A380: in other words, the world’s largest passenger plane and a monster capable of flying over 850 passengers. Global apparently plans on adding another three A380s to its fleet.
It hasn’t been announced exactly how much Global’s routes will cost or how often they’ll run. But one thing’s for sure: UK-US travel could see a serious shake-up very, very soon. Watch this space for updates.
Did you see that another sleeper train to Berlin will launch in 2023?
