There are some truly remarkable Airbnbs in the world, but how many of them can claim to be so incredible they’ve won actual, legit awards? Well, thanks to the 2022 Eviivo Awards, one rental can now do just that. Kilmartin Castle in Argyle, western Scotland, beat five other homes to be crowned the ‘hottest property’ in all of the UK and Ireland.
So what makes Kilmartin so special? Honestly, it’s difficult to know where to start. Built in the sixteenth century, the castle is tall and dramatic with thick stone walls. It’s surrounded by astonishing rolling hills and phenomenal views – and even has its own small lake for wild swimming.
The castle’s interior is rustic but welcoming, featuring loads of dark wooden beams and bare stone walls, as well as fur blankets and busts of animals on the walls. It isn’t a million miles away from a Game of Thrones set, though it does, admittedly, boast super-fast fibre optic Wi-Fi.
The castle has five bedrooms and space for up to ten guests. It can be kitted out with its own private chef and can also be used as a wedding venue. In short, there aren’t many rentals quite like it. Here are a few more pictures of the place:
Fancy staying at Kilmartin Castle? It’s available on Airbnb from around £1,800 ($2,400) per night – or, if you split that between ten friends, a more manageable £180 ($240) per head. You can find out more on the rental’s Airbnb listing here.
