The best landscape photography doesn’t just capture a natural environment in a single frame (though that’s a bit of a given). The finest landscape shots are also really varied: they can range from spectacular shots of mountains or forests to mesmerising environmental patterns.
The International Landscape Photographer of the Year awards celebrate those kinds of landscape photos, featuring some of the most boggling and captivating wide-angle shots of the year. Like the above snap, for instance, which was taken by Tony Wang in Sichuan, China, and features some marvellously textured green hills under a shimmering rainbow. It’s positively fairytale-esque.
The 2022 International Landscape Photographer of the Year awards in 2022 shortlisted 101 photographs of note. You can find out more about those here (and check out the official eBook). In the meantime, here are a few of our favourites.
