Time to don a colorful scarf and order that oat chai latte – autumn has well and truly arrived. Even with the dropping temperatures and the evening drawing in, there are still plenty of destinations where you can catch some rays at this time of year , but some of us are ready to curl up and embrace the cosy vibes.
To help you pick a place in which to hunker down, Riviera Travel has done some research and created a ‘cosy travel index’ based on factors such as average autumn temperatures, the number of coffee shops and the number of scenic attractions.
Claiming the top spot is Ljubljana, which has an overall score of 67.2 out of 100 thanks to low rainfall and a balmy average temperature of 12.5C. With its cobbled streets, pretty bridges and a warm glow of streetlights once it gets dark, the Slovenian capital looks like it could feature on the front of an advent calendar, too.
In second place it was Zurich, which scored 64.7 overall, and in third place it was Prague, which followed closely behind with 64.1 (and apparently is home to a whopping 368 coffee shops). Wrap up and strap in – the rest of the list is below.
These are the 10 ‘cosiest’ places in the world to visit this autumn
- Ljubljana, Slovenia
- Zurich, Switzerland

- New York City, USA
