Sure, plenty of spennier places are worth saving up for, but if you’re a last-minute traveller, would rather put your cash towards a bougie place to stay or are just a frugal frog, saving money on flights is a real gamechanger.
And that’s exactly what SkyScanner can help with. The booking platform has published a list of the best value places to fly, based on the percentage prices dropped between January 1 and June 30 this year compared to last (from the UK, that is).
So, where in the world is it cheapest to fly? Well, according to this research, it’s Sarajevo, the quaint, bridge-filled capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Compared to the same period in 2023, the flight prices to Sarajevo dropped a healthy 45 percent in 2024 – so it’s definitely worth considering for 2025.
In second place it was the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, which is home to one of the country’s most underrated cities, and saw price falls of 39 percent. In third place was Tirana, the Albanian capital, which is full of fascinating museums and fun bars. Read on for more of the best-value destinations, according to SkyScanner.
