You know the old cliche, that the new year brings new possibilities? While that often means committing to resolutions that’ll barely survive through January, the new year is a good time to give your inspo collections, boards and folders a bit of a refresh.
Handily, Condé Nast Traveller has just published its list of what it deems as the best places to travel in 2025, and there are plenty of underrated destinations getting some time in the spotlight.
First up there’s Djerba, which is an island off the east coast of Tunisia, and is known for its glistening Mediterranean beaches (much less saturated than the resorts in northern Tunisia) and culmination of cultures – people of Arab, African, Berber and Jewish heritage live here.
So, why now? Well, Condé Nast says: ‘As host of the first-ever World Capital of Island Cuisine festival in 2025, Djerba will welcome chefs representing island cuisines from around the globe in a competition for gastronomical glory, with live music and nautical activities as the anticipated supporting acts.’ Sounds like fun, right?
Also on the list is El Impenetrable National Park in Argentina, a vast protected area which is home to wildlife such as giant armadillos and black-bodied woodpeckers, and Greenland which, thanks to the opening of some brand-new airports, is about to become a whole lot easier to visit.
