These are the best cities for digital nomads in 2025

TikTok searches for ‘digital nomad destinations’ have soared by more than 3,000 percent – here’s where you should be heading

While packing your laptop and moving somewhere cheaper and sunnier sounds like a dream, there are some practical details that you should consider to make sure your new life as a digital nomad runs as smoothly as possible. 

These include factors like broadband speed and monthly transport costs, as well as your chosen city’s programme of events and even the weather conditions. Tthankfully, Away Holidays have produced a study that assesses all those things. Why? Well, TikTok searches are up 3,000 percent, so they gotta give the people what they want. 

Topping the ranks for the best city to be a digital nomad, based on all those factors, is Los Angeles, which gained a perfect 100 score.

That’s right – thanks to the City of Angels’ speedy 269Mbps broadband speed, 0.93 climate score and whopping 280 events on offer, LA ranks as the best in the world to be a digital nomad. Check out the best things to do in the city, and the best coffee shops here

Barcelona claimed second place, where monthly transport costs are a mere £25 and with a score of 99.34, and Montevideo came in third place, scoring 97.38. Rounding out the top five are Madrid and Ho Chi Minh City, but read on for the full top 10.
