Going out to eat is surely one of life’s greatest pleasures, but some of the world’s best cities for food will leave you feeling less-than-pleased when the bill arrives at your table.
In Europe, there’s a huge disparity between the cost of food – a plate of tapas in London might cost you the equivalent of two courses in Spain. If you love to eat (don’t we all) but you’re on a budget (aren’t we all), a new study by FerryGoGo is here to spill the beans on which cities across Europe are the most expensive to go out for dinner.
Not-so-shockingly, after they were respectively named the two most expensive cities for 2024, the top spot is claimed by both Zurich and Geneva. Here, a three-course meal for two people averages at around €123.62 – hardly street food prices, right?
In second place it was Reykjavik, the Icelandic capital, where the same meal costs around €114, and in third place it’s Espoo in Finland, with a total of around €110. In fourth position it’s Copenhagen, and thanks to an average of €107.25, the top five cities in this list all have an average of at least €100 – spenny stuff.
