Whether you’re dashing off interrailing or swanning from one platform to the next on a super-luxurious trip, it’s easy to miss how beautiful some of Europe’s train stations are.
Sure, a hub that’s easy to navigate and where services tend to depart on time is pretty handy, but the ones that combine organised substance with architectural style have gotta be the most impressive stations of all.
And Bounce, a luggage storage platform, has done some research to find out which European stations are the best (more specifically, which are the highest rated on Google), and it was Amsterdam Centraal that topped the ranks. Scoring 4.5 out of five, this station drips with the grandeur of Gothic, Renaissance and modern architecture, and is a much-relied-upon hub by tourists and commuters alike, thanks to its central location.
In second place, it’s Zürich Hauptbahnhof which, according to the company’s train station index, is the most popular in Europe overall, and has a rating of 4.4 on Google, tied with Utrecht Central.
In joint fourth place, Berlin Hauptbahnhof ties with three different London train stations – Liverpool Street, Victoria and Waterloo, which scored 4.3.
