Recent weeks have seen the blossoming of a new, vibrant TikTok trend that honours the beloved filmmaker Wes Anderson. The director is known for his unique aesthetic, which features lively pastel colours, symmetrical shots, and characters that stare directly into the camera. The trend has been paying homage to this style – with some truly brilliant results.

TikTokkers across the globe have been sharing videos of their ordinary lives shot à la Wes Anderson. The hashtag #WesAnderson has suddenly risen to 554.7 million views on TikTok alone as social media users continue romanticising the simple pleasures of life.
Despite his astronomical popularity, many don’t know that the American filmmaker designed a cafe in Milan back in 2015. Located at the Fondazione Prada building, Bar Luce is a colourful coffee house with interior decor that transports you back to the 1950s and 1960s.
Talking about his design approach, Anderson once explained: ‘When I was really young I wanted to be an architect, and this chance I’ve been given to pretend to be a real one is a childhood fantasy come true!’
‘While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set, I think it would be an even better place to write a movie. I tried to make it a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in.’
