At the end of last year we reported on the world’s most relaxing places, but not everywhere is blessed with an easy-breezy way of life. Now, we’re here to bring you the antithesis – take a deep breath, guys.
A study by scuba and snorkelling company DIPNDIVE has revealed the top 10 least tourist-friendly cities based on a host of factors. These included visitor numbers, noise levels, air quality, transport costs and crime indexes, among other things, and each one was rated from 0 to 100 – the higher the score, the more ‘stressful’ the city.

Coming in first place, according to this study, was Las Vegas. That’s right – Sin City scored 95 overall, with tourists facing extreme crowding (there are 187,000 visitors per 100,000 residents), and lots and lots of noise. Meals and transport are relatively reasonable, but overall it sounds like navigating Vegas could be quite intense. Perhaps book one of these Airbnbs for a bit of tranquillity, eh?
Following closely behind in second place is San Francisco, which scored 93, and New York City comes in third place, with a score of 83. In fact, six US cities made this top-10 roundup of the most stressful cities, with Los Angeles (79), San Diego (76) and Portland (72) all making an appearance. Read on for the full ranking.
