The world’s best cities for retirees have been revealed in a new ranking

A study has compared the quality of healthcare, cost of hotels, and the number of things to do to find the best places for those golden years

You’d be hard-pressed to find something a city hasn’t been ranked on: from walkability and liveability to the wealthiest and the best-smelling, there are endless lists out there. 

But what about the best cities to visit in your golden years? Travel insurance website Paying Too Much has looked at a selection of popular cities from around the world and compared them based on hotel quality, healthcare quality, the number of tours, walking trails and things to do, to see where is best for retirees. 

And claiming the top spot is Melbourne! But, are we surprised? The Aussie city has plenty of comfy hotels, lots of brilliant walking trailswalking tours and city tours, plus bags of things to do – pretty much everything you’d need. 

Sydney and Brisbane also made the top ten, as did Auckland in New Zealand – clearly down under has got it all going on when it comes to retiree holidays. Have a look at the rest of the list below.
