Paris 2024 has been a spectacle – that’s the only way to describe it really. It kicked off with a surprising, slightly bizarre opening ceremony (which nonetheless is one for the history books) and has since brought us some amazing shows of teamwork and talent and, of course, some excellent memes

But now the closing ceremony is approaching, it’ll soon be time to wave goodbye to the Olympics for another four years. So, here is everything we know about who will appear to perform in the ceremony, and the best ways to watch it.

The lineup has been kept largely under wraps till now, with Paris’s artistic director Thomas Jolly giving little away that the ceremony’s theme will be ‘Records’ and that we can expect ‘world-renowned singers’.

However, ahead of the final weekend of the Games, more has finally been revealed. French bands Air and Phoenix have already been confirmed to appear, as had US presenter Jimmy Fallon and sports commentator Mike Tirico, the evening’s co-hosts. Legendary Hollywood Tom Cruise is due to perform an aerial stunt, which’ll challenge even his most daring adventures in the Mission Impossible franchise, to hand over the next Olympic city (which is LA)

To help Cruise pass the baton is the most recent addition to the line-up, Billie Eilish. Set to be accompanied by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and (king of Olympics memes) Snoop Dogg, this top-tier roster of artists will be performing an LA-themed musical section, according to Variety. Quite the line-up, right?

Timings

The ceremony is taking place on Sunday August 11 at 8pm CEST, and will be held in the Stade de France. You can read all about the schedule and timings in more detail right here

How to watch

Your best bet is to head to the same places you’ve been going for your Olympics coverage. In France, that’ll be France Télévision and in the UK, that’ll be the BBC. In the US, NBC should be airing the closing ceremony, and the Olympics also has its own streaming channel, which will likely include the closing ceremony.
