Autumn is a really great time to get away – costs are lower, destinations are often teetering at much more bearable temperatures and there are far fewer visitors wandering about. We recently reported on some budget-friendly options, and now Expedia have revealed the trendiest places for the upcoming season.
The list is based on Expedia flight searches in the US between September 3 and November 15 2024 compared to the same period last year, but overall, searches for international trips in the autumn are up year after year.
Nowhere is doing it quite like Tulum though, which has claimed the top spot as the trendiest destination for autumn 2024 with searches up a whipping 70 percent compared to 2023. It’s actually one of three destinations in Mexico to make the list, with Mexico City claiming eighth place (searches up 40 percent) and Cancun claiming tenth (searches up 35 percent), but with average temperatures in the Yucatan Peninsula sitting at around 27C (80F) and 18C (65F) in the capital, it’s a solid place for autumnal sun.
The Spanish island of Majorca has also seen searches increase by 70 percent and it claimed second place, and Curaçao claimed third place with searches up 55 percent.
Much like Mexico, Japan has three destinations on this list: searches for Tokyo and Kyoto are up 50 percent, Osaka 45 percent. Check out the rest of the list below.
