Wherever you plonk them, see-through domes look pretty damn cool. But one in Peru’s Sacred Valley? Well, that promises to be a very, very special place indeed. That’s what’s on offer at StarDome Peru: a boutique dome hotel on the road between the Andean metropolis of Cusco and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu.

The huge structure consists of a viewing platform with 360-degree panoramas of the surrounding valley, and below that, some very fancy accommodation. It’s all encased in a clear geodesic dome, and, naturally, the views are absolutely jaw-dropping.

There are six suites on offer, all of which have Wi-Fi, hot showers, heated floors, a 24/7 concierge service and décor inspired by ancient Incan culture. One of the rooms (the most expensive, obviously) has its own jacuzzi – but they’ve all got those astonishing views, and they’re all served by Apu: a restaurant offering excellent local cuisine. Now, just take a look at these incredible snaps:

Look good to you? Well, if you’re tempted to make the trip, StarDome’s packages range from three to six days, and include both the accommodation and organised trips to nearby sights like the ruins of Pumamarca, the village of Ollantaytambo and, obviously, Machu Picchu. Prices start from a predictably spenny (but surprisingly not that spenny) $399 (£296) per night and bookings are now open. Find out more on the official StarDome website.
