Wherever you plonk them, see-through domes look pretty damn cool. But one in Peru’s Sacred Valley? Well, that promises to be a very, very special place indeed. That’s what’s on offer at StarDome Peru: a boutique dome hotel on the road between the Andean metropolis of Cusco and the Unesco World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu.
The huge structure consists of a viewing platform with 360-degree panoramas of the surrounding valley, and below that, some very fancy accommodation. It’s all encased in a clear geodesic dome, and, naturally, the views are absolutely jaw-dropping.
There are six suites on offer, all of which have Wi-Fi, hot showers, heated floors, a 24/7 concierge service and décor inspired by ancient Incan culture. One of the rooms (the most expensive, obviously) has its own jacuzzi – but they’ve all got those astonishing views, and they’re all served by Apu: a restaurant offering excellent local cuisine.
