Some destinations are rich in culture, some are rich in delectable food and some in that effortless ‘cool’ factor, but others are just good old-fashioned, stinking rich.
And based on the list of the world’s most expensive cities that we reported on recently, it might not be too hard to guess which countries in Europe are the wealthiest, but WorldAtlas has thrown in its two cents and published a list, ranking each place based on GDP per capita.
So, where is awarded the (metaphorical, and probably literal) crown of the richest country in Europe? Well, that’d be Luxembourg. The capital city of this tiny, landlocked country was recently ranked as the best city to be a remote worker, and overall the country has a GDP per capita of €128,597. €128,597.
In second place it was Ireland, where GDP per capita is €119,788, and in third place it was Switzerland, which is home to two of the world’s most expensive cities to dine out and to live in, and has a GDP per capita of €82,245.
