Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or not in Europe), you’ll know that the UEFA European Championships kicked off in Germany over the weekend.

It’s hard not to get swept up in the football frenzy when such a big tournament rolls around. For those wanting to learn more about the beautiful game, LiveFootballTickets has released a ranking of the best football museums to visit across the continent. Who knew there were so many?

The study evaluated customer reviews on TripAdvisor and the cost of admission to create their ranking – and the Greek Football Museum, in the Cretan city of Chania, was named the best football museum in Europe. It’s free to enter, and scored 4.94 according to reviews.

In joint second place was the Red Star Museum in Belgrade and the Scottish Football Museum in Glasgow. The former is slightly cheaper to enter (€5.10 compared to €5.90), but the latter scores moderately better on customer reviews (4.72 compared to 4.44).

However, there’s one glaring oversight in this list, if you ask us – OOF Gallery in Tottenham offers an innovative insight into the links between football and art, and is definitely one of our favourite footy-related institutions.

These are the 10 best football museums in the world

1. Greek Football Museum, Greece

2. Red Star Museum, Serbia / Scottish Football Museum, UK

4. CR7 Museum, Portugal

5. The Museum of Football, Romania

6. Museo Del Calcio, Italy

7. German Football Museum, Germany

8. Benfica Museum, Portugal

9. FC Porto Museum, Portugal

10. The National Football Museum, UK
