After that ‘spectacle’ of an opening ceremony on Wednesday night, with acrobatics from the French Air Force, a diverse array of able-bodied and disabled dancers, and a mesmerising rendition of ‘Je Ne Regrette Rien’ by Christine and the Queens, the second round of Summer Games at Paris 2024 are well and truly underway. But while you might have thought the Olympics went quickly, the Paralympics are even shorter (just 11 days), so this is your reminder to absorb as many events as possible while they last.

But this magnificent summer of sport will surely pass over to LA 2028 in style, and with artistic director Thomas Jolly at the helm, the closing ceremony looks like it’s going to be a suitably dramatic, sparkling end. So, here is everything you need to know about the start time, run time, location and lineup for the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympics.

When is the closing ceremony for the 2024 Paralympics?

The Paralympics will come to a conclusion, marking the end of this cracking summer of sport, in the closing ceremony on Sunday September 8.

Start time and length

The event will kick off at 8.30 pm CEST (that’s 7.30pm BST and 2.30pm EST), and last for three hours, until 11.30 pm CEST (10.30pm BST and 5.3opm EST).

Where is the closing ceremony?

The closing ceremony, like the one for the Olympics, is more in keeping with tradition and will take place at the Stade de France.

What will happen at the closing ceremony?

According to the official Paris 2024 website, the closing ceremony will celebrate the 4,400 para-athletes who will have competed, and after the parade and passing of the flag to LA for the 2028 Olympics, the evening will feature a programme of the country’s top artists from the electro scene. The page reads: ‘Paris 2024 is breaking new ground once again, promising a memorable final evening to cap off a historic summer of Games.’

Thomas Jolly, who has artistically directed all other ceremonies, is also in charge of the closing ceremony for the Paralympics. The event has been designed as a tribute to Paris’s nightlife, hence all the electro performers.
