Thanks to the shitshow of 2020, you’ve probably mastered the art of getting your pet, kids or other half to do exactly what you tell them to. Serious times call for strict household obedience. So why not use this as an opportunity to get them all to pose for a nifty portrait or three?
If you’re unsure how to work that dust-gathering DLSR, you’re in luck. ‘Photographing children and pets’ is one of ten online photography courses Nikon has made free for all to stream. Usually priced between $15 and $50, the courses are led by a professional photographer. They offer in-depth insight into everything from making music videos to getting the light just right in all those fuzzy sourdough pics you’ve been sending your pals.
Happily for anyone with an unprecedented amount of free time right now – pretty much all of us, then – the classes will be free from this week, right up to December 31, for anyone around the world. All you have to do is go to Nikon’s website, sign up with an email address, and you’re in.
When it comes to those artful family portraits, it’s then just a matter of getting your subjects to keep still. Simple, right?
