Marvel’s titchiest superhero, Ant-Man, has a new adversary and somehow it’s still not The Anteater. The all-conquering film studio has signed up fast-rising actor Jonathan Majors to play Ant-Man 3’s new superbad, reported by Deadline to be Kang the Conqueror.
You’ll probably know Majors from his role in current watercooler TV hit Lovecraft Country, or his recent turn in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods. His first eye-catching role came in 2017’s Sundance-acclaimed The Last Black Man in San Francisco.
You’ll probably-stroke-possibly know Kang the Conqueror from his genius-level intellect and time travelling prowess in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Marvel comic book run. Expect him to make things uncomfortable in the Quantum Realm for Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man and Evangeline Lily’s Wasp, possibly as a precursor to wider Marvel supervillain duties.
‘With so many new characters in the MCU, there could be a twist with how the character is featured in future films,’ say Deadline’s sources, ‘but as of now he is likely to be one of the main villains in the next instalment in the [Ant-Man] franchise.’
Ant-Man 3 is currently in pre-production with Peyton Reed directing again and 2022 the likely release date.
Ryan Murphy's 'The Prom' is officially dropping on Netflix on December 11.
