It’s official: these were the world’s busiest airports in 2024

OAG’s global airline schedules data has unveiled the hubs where the most seats passed through compared to 2023

Airports – some are only busy when it’s peak holiday season, but others are year-round mega hubs of domestic flights, international connections and everything in between. 

But which are the busiest in the world? Well, OAG’s global airline schedules data is here to tell us! The platform has compiled stats on how many seats passed through the planet’s airports between January 1 and December 31, 2024, and ranked the busiest 10. 

Topping the list is Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, which had 62,743,665 seats, which was 1 percent below its 2019 levels but 2 percent up from 2023. The airport, one of the US’s major layover hubs, topped lists in all three of these years. 

In second place was Dubai International Airport, which had more than 60 million seats, and in third place it was Tokyo International Airport, which had more than 55 million – check out the rest of the list below.

  10. Chicago O’Hare International, 46,992,360
